Services for Teenagers
Crediton Surgery operates a confidential service to all of its patients including teenagers of all ages. All members of staff are open and non-judgemental. Please ask if you would like to speak to a staff member in a confidential area.
Please be bold and ask for your appointment, explain that you require emergency contraception (morning after pill), so that you can be seen a.s.a.p.
Remember, the sooner you take your emergency contraception the better. It is most effective within the first 24 hours, but can be taken up to 72 hours after unprotected sex or condom failure. If it is more than 72 hours since having unprotected sex or a condom failure, then still ask to be seen to discuss your options.
We are able to provide you with a limited supply of condoms free of charge. Remember taking the pill only protects you from pregnancy, NOT sexually transmitted diseases. So be wise and use condoms.
We are now able to offer Chlamydia screening, it is easy to do and doesn’t involve any embarrassing examinations. You take the sample and for boys it involves providing a sample of urine. The results will be sent directly to you. You choose how you receive the results, 'phone call, e-mail, letter, text to mobile 'phones. Please come and ask for this easy test to be done.
